Hey Reader
After over a decade of loyalty, my journey with Mint Budgeting has come to a close. Credit Karma, its parent platform, made the decision to shutter Mint, leaving me on the search for a new way to track my money. Mint has been integral in witnessing my net worth grow over the years, and I'm immensely grateful for the insights it provided.
Monarch Money caught my eye among the sea of options for a few reasons. First off, it's a paid platform, so no pesky ads cluttering my financial view. You know the saying: if you're not paying for the product, you are the product. Tired of constant credit card offers and financial product pitches when all I wanted was to manage my money hassle-free.
Monarch Money (referral link), priced at $14.99/month or $99.00/year, offers a refreshing ad-free experience, allowing me to focus solely on managing my finances without interruptions.
Additionally, Monarch's seamless transition from Mint was a game-changer. Despite having thousands of transactions across various bank and credit accounts in Mint, the entire process took me less than an hour. For individuals with simpler financial setups, it could be completed in under 30 minutes, while new users with no previous data to migrate could be up and running in less than 10 minutes.
I love it! I'll just share some pictures of some of my favorite features. It will need time to learn my patterns and be more accurate but still loads of fun.
If you're interested in Monarch Money and use my link, you'll get a 30-day trial instead of the usual 7-day. Another feature I haven't played with yet, creating goals in the app. You can create goals like saving up for emergencies, a vacation, a car, paying down debt, and much more!

You’ve probably seen the “Buy Now, Pay Later” options all over the place…Affirm, Afterpay, Klarna, you name it. It’s tempting to break up a purchase into smaller payments instead of paying the full amount upfront. But here’s something you need to know:BNPL loans are now being reported to your credit report. 👉🏽In April, I shared on Threads that Affirm had already started reporting to Experian. The others are following suit. This can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on how you handle...
My piece of joy last week: I reached out to Nutre (a meal prep company I use sometimes) and asked if they could apply the nurse’s discount they were promoting to my account. At the time, I had a different offer… a free pound of cooked chicken. Nice, but honestly? That 15% nurse discount was more valuable to me. And guess what? It was super easy. They made the switch. Lesson: It never hurts to ask. And no one cares about your money like you do.(I’m a close second 😜) This email may contain...
