we found $800 in her budget and changed everything

When we met for her Smart Money Strategy Session this week, she came ready to get serious about her debt.

She had been using the debt snowball method, but emotional spending threw her off track.
The numbers were overwhelming for her:

  • 4 credit cards
  • $17,559.98 in debt
  • $487 in minimum payments
  • 24% average interest
  • Estimated payoff time: 65 months
  • Interest over time: $13,972.58

She was tired. Tired of juggling payments. Tired of debt dragging on.
But most of all, she just wanted a plan that actually felt doable.

So we got to work.

Together, we found almost $800 in her budget that could go toward her goals.
I recommended she set $225 aside for emergencies. Because life happens, and we don’t want to swipe again when it does.
Then we put the rest toward debt.

Now? She can put $1,000 toward debt each month.
That alone would cut her payoff time down to 22 months with less than $4,400 in interest.

She also wanted to simplify things and applied for a debt consolidation loan.
She was approved at 12.99% interest—way better than the 24% on her cards.

  • Monthly loan payment: $529
  • Total interest over 3 years: $4,836.53
  • But with her goal of paying $1,000/month?
  • Payoff time: 20 months
  • Interest paid: $2,063.91

She told me, "I feel rich now."

We also made small changes, like closing her high-fee business account and paying off her business credit card (this freed up another $60/week).

All this progress in just one session.
She left with a clear plan, less stress, and more confidence.

You’ve probably seen the “Buy Now, Pay Later” options all over the place…Affirm, Afterpay, Klarna, you name it. It’s tempting to break up a purchase into smaller payments instead of paying the full amount upfront. But here’s something you need to know:BNPL loans are now being reported to your credit report. 👉🏽In April, I shared on Threads that Affirm had already started reporting to Experian. The others are following suit. This can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on how you handle...

My piece of joy last week: I reached out to Nutre (a meal prep company I use sometimes) and asked if they could apply the nurse’s discount they were promoting to my account. At the time, I had a different offer… a free pound of cooked chicken. Nice, but honestly? That 15% nurse discount was more valuable to me. And guess what? It was super easy. They made the switch. Lesson: It never hurts to ask. And no one cares about your money like you do.(I’m a close second 😜) This email may contain...
