a dangerous idea keeping people from building wealth

Last week I was scrolling and landed on a post from another creator where he was sharing the difference between when someone invests just enough to get the match at work and another maxes it out. One comment caught my attention.

NO ONE? Now, I usually don't engage with commenters like this but it was important to me that people knew the truth. I replied that I max out my retirement and I don't make multiple six figures. Of course, I didn't change his mind but that was never the point.

I made a crap ton of money mistakes before I ever saw content that showed me what was actually possible for someone like me. That's the reason I do this. Not to win an argument in someone else's comment section, but because someone like him, telling that creator, that this isn't realistic, is exactly the kind of thing that keeps women stuck longer than they need to be.

Words matter. What we let other people tell us about what's possible for our money becomes the ceiling we live under, even when we never asked for their opinion in the first place. This kind of content showed me what was possible and I hope that's what I'm doing for you.

I believe in you, Reader. Not in a bumper sticker way. I believe that maxing out an account, paying off debt faster, building real savings, it isn't reserved for a certain income bracket. It's a series of decisions made consistently over time, and that's an option for you regardless of the number written on your paycheck today.

That belief is exactly why, when a national outlet asked for help re: a payday plan people could use to avoid mistakes like late fees, I was happy to help. It includes a bill tracking trick that takes two minutes to set up and a specific way to time your autopay so a late fee never touches your account again.

I'm not going to walk you through all of it here. You can click here to go read it. It's aimed at Gen Z readers but the advice applies to everyone, including myself.

Eager to see you thrive,

Prisca

I just spent close to $500 at the mechanic this weekend. It was time for routine maintenance, and during the inspection it was found that my brake and fuel injection fluid needed replacing. Not fun to pay for, but not optional either. Safety isn't a line item you skip. Here's the part that made me smile. You might remember back in April I told you about the day my tire went flat and the shop tried to talk me into replacing all four tires for $700 plus. I walked away, sat in my car, and...

I had the pleasure of sitting down with Anthony Weaver on the About That Wallet podcast - and y'all, he asked me ALL the questions. My money journey, my worst money mistake (two cars in the same year... I'll explain), how I finally started building real wealth as a nurse, and the three steps that completely changed how I relate to money. I had so much fun recording this one. Anthony creates a space where the conversation flows naturally. If you've been following along here for a while, you'll...

Amazon Prime Day is here, and if you're anything like I used to be, your inbox, social media feeds, and Amazon app are probably reminding you about it every few minutes. Funny enough, Prime Day usually happens in July, but this year it showed up a little earlier running from June 23 - 26. Years ago, I would have on this sale like white on rice. I'm a recovering Amazon shopper, a long ways from the days when my living room looked like an Amazon warehouse. Sales felt like opportunities I...
